Stack launches batteryless TPMS
ERJ staff report (RD)
Oxfordshire, UK - Stack, a UK-based instrument and data-logging specialist, has launched a new tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) that eliminates the need for electronics and batteries from the sensors, a 17 March company statement said.
Based on patented SAW sensor technology, the new TPMS system was developed in-house at Stack's headquarters in Bicester, UK. At 18mm diameter x 14mm depth, and weigh 10g, it is the smallest TPMS sensor on the market, the statement said.
According to Stack, the new design also improves sensor life by 5 times or more.
Stack said the flexible system supports a virtually unlimited number of wheel sets with just one module interrogating 1, 2 or 4 wheels - making it suitable for cars, trucks and bikes. CAN-bus output of pressures and temperatures allows easy integration with existing data-logging systems, the company added.
