Bekaert hold official opening party for Russian plant

Lipetsk, Russia - Bekaert has officially opened its new steelcord plant in the Lipetsk Special Economic Zone (SEZ). A ceremony was attended by Dmitry Medvedev, President of the Russian Federation and Bert De Graeve, Chief Executive Officer of Bekaert
Bekaert Lipetsk will produce steel cord for tyre reinforcement, a market in which Bekaert has built up aglobal leadership position. This new manufacturing platform will be servicing the domestic market andthe wider CIS region. In so doing, Bekaert is responding to the rising local demand for steel cordproducts.
Situated about 400 kilometers south of Moscow, Lipetsk is strategically located close to Bekaert'sregional target markets, with good logistics and easy access to energy supplies and skilled labour. Thenew plant currently employs 92 people. Another 320 jobs will be created along with the continuedinvestments planned, from now through 2013
