Bridgestone bids for MotoGP tyre supply, as Michelin withdraws

Paris -- Michelin has decided not to submit a bid to the governing body of the MotoGP World Championship. At the same time, Michelin said it regrets not being able to contribute to the organisers' important discussions to improve rider safety and reduce costs.
The governing body of the sport, FIM said on Saturday that Bridgestone has sent a proposal to FIM to be the single tyre supplier inMotoGP for 2009. FIM said it will study Bridgestone's proposal and make an announcement on 18th of October 2008 in Sepang, Malaysia.
