ShengdaTech wins calcium carbonate order in China
ERJ staff report (DS)
Tai'an, China -- ShengdaTech, Inc. a manufacturer of nano precipitated calcium carbonate (NPCC) based in Tai'an City, Shandong Province, PRC, said a major Chinese tyre manufacturer has issued a purchase order to ShengdaTech to fulfill ongoing tyre production needs. The order follows a test at the un-named customer's factory.
ShengdaTech said the customer is based in Shandong Province and is one of the top ten tyre manufacturers in China with approximately 7 percent domestic-market share.
ShengdaTech's proprietary method of producing NPCC uses membrane-dispersion technology. This, said the company, ensures superior product quality. ShengdaTech said its NPCC "provides approximately 10 percent to 20 percent overall improvement in the tyre's performance, measured by increased traction wave resistance, tear resistance, brake elongation, tensile strength and aging resistance. In addition to improved performance, the use of NPCC reduces the overall tyre manufacturing cost by about 3 percent."
Shengda claims to be the biggest supplier of calcium carbonate to the Chinese tyre industry. 'With the addition of this new customer, we are now supplying our NPCC product to three of China's top ten tire manufacturers,' commented Mr. Xiangzhi Chen, President and CEO of Shengda.
