SCG-Dow forms joint venture
Midland, Michigan -- A Dow Chemical Co.-Siam Cement Group partnership has formed a 50-50 joint venture, part of a previously announced plan to build a plant in Thailand that will produce elastomers and plastomers.
SCG-Dow Group-itself a joint venture between the two firms-said the newly formed, unnamed joint venture will begin building the specialty elastomers facility at the Asia Industrial Estate in Rayong Province, Thailand. The start of construction and its cost wasn't given, but the unit is expected to begin operating in 2011.
The plant will make Affinity polyolefin plastomers and Engage polyolefin elastomers, and will supply customers in the Asia-Pacific region.
