Goodyear seeks to avoid tyre recall
Washington DC - Goodyear has asked the US-based National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for a finding of inconsequential noncompliance for 82 636 mislabeled Dunlop SP Sport Signature passenger tyres.
If the federal agency agrees with the request, Goodyear won't have to recall the tyres.
Manufactured from 2007 to March 2008, the tyres are marked “Tread 3 Polyester + 2 Steel†on the sidewall, instead of the correct “Tread 2 Polyester + 2 Steel + 2 Polyester.â€
Goodyear said the mislabeling is inconsequential to safety, particularly since all the other markings on the tyres are correct.
