Lanxess launches high ACN grades of HNBR
ERJ staff report (DS)
Leverkusen, Germany - Lanxess AG, is adding three new ultra-high ACN grades, namely Therban AT A 5005 VP, Therban AT C 5065 VP and Therban A 5008 VP, to its Therban product line of hydrogenated nitrile rubber (HNBR).
Dr. Matthias Soddemann, head of the Lanxess' Therban center of excellence, said: “With these new grades we are responding to a variety of customer requests for e.g. improved media resistance (which is achieved by a maximum ACN (acrylonitrile) content of up to 50.5 percent), improved aging resistance (achieved by full saturation of the polymer backbone) and better processing behaviour.â€
Lanxess said no fully saturated ultra-high ACN HNBR grades containing more than 44 % ACN are currently available in the market.
