Michelin's US truck operations outline Smartway products
ERJ staff report (DS)
Louisville, Kentucky -- Michelin's North American truck operations has released information about its commitment to the US-based Smartway programme, which encourages better fuel economy.
The company said, "Michelin has more tyre lines certified as part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) SmartWay program than any other tyre maker. Eight Michelin tyre models, which deliver outstanding performance and low-rolling resistance, are approved for use by SmartWay that enable truck carriers to certify their tractors and trailers."
Michelin said SmartWay was introduced by EPA and a select group of fifteen shipping and business leaders in 2004 as an innovative, market-based partnership to reduce fuel use, greenhouse gas emissions, and air pollutants from the freight sector. Today, more than 600 businesses and organizations have joined the Partnership, including companies of all sizes, from Fortune 500 companies to family-owned businesses, each working to improve their environmental performance.
