Freudenberg adds plant for cylinder head gaskets
ERJ staff report (DS)
Weinheim, Germany -- Freudenberg Dichtungs- und Schwingungstechnik (FDS) is to open new production plant for cylinder head gaskets in Germany.
FDS said needs additional production capacity in its strategic Metallic Seals division. A centre of expertise for cylinder head gaskets is currently being built in Gelting in the state of Bavaria. The new plant will start supplying the company's German customers this summer.
In setting up this plant, FDS is relying on the expertise of Burgmann employees. The former unit Burgmann Automotive (Eurasburg) and its 100 employees have been part of FDS since January 1, 2008. The unit has since been integrated into the Flat Gaskets business area. Burgmann, which specialises in high-quality mechanical face seals for the chemical and process industries, has been a member of the Freudenberg group for several years now and intends to expand its global activities in the future.
Burgmann's former automotive unit, which develops and produces technically sophisticated mechanical face seals and exhaust seals for the automotive industry, will now be expanded under the leadership of FDS and with the market expertise of the unit's automotive experts.
