Tokyo -- SAS Rubber Co., the US subsidiary of Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd., secured ISO 14001 certification in December.
ISO 14001 is an international standard for environmental management systems.
SAS Rubber produces air conditioning and power steering hoses for automobiles, and window gaskets for railway carriages and heavy-duty buses. The firm has about 100 employees, and sales were $15 million (Euro 10 million) in 2006.
As part of Yokohama's 2006 new management plan, all group companies have been working on acquiring ISO 14001 certification. Of the 24 production bases, all 11 Japanese and 3 US sites have completed this goal. Six sites in other countries also earned this certification, with four more to go.
