Showa Denka reports profit rise for 2007

Tokyo -- Showa Denko K.K. has reported operating income up by an 11.6 percent for the 12 months to Dec. 2007. The company said group consolidated operating income was Yen 76 671 million, (Euro 492 million). Net sales also increased, by 11.9 percent, to Yen 1.023 million million (Euro 6573 million).
The company said revenues from Shoprene-brand chloroprene rubber increased due to higher selling prices in a tighter market while sales of Elaslen chlorinated polyethylene were up due to higher volumes.
