Analysts highlight NIRA TPMS system
ERJ staff report (DS)
Boston, Massachusetts -- A US analyst has highlighted the Swedish company NIRA Dynamics' tyre pressure monitoring technology in its latest briefing.
NIRA is closely associated with Audi, and has developed an indirect tyre pressure monitoring system based on vibration resonance measurement. While this does not measure pressure directly, it does measure a parameter -- resonance frequency -- that depends directly on pressure within a single tyre. Competing indirect systems rely on ABS sensors on different wheels and compare rotational rates, and then derive tyre diameter, to give a measure of tyre pressure.
Audi has fitted the NIRA system to its new TT model and more recently on the A4/A5.
