Malaysian NR production continues decline in October

Kuala Lumpur -- Malaysia's slow decline as a producer of natural rubber continues. Output in the first 10 months of 2007 is down by 6.3 percent on the same period last year, at 1.01 million tonnes. Production in October was 97.6 kt, down by 6.7 percent on the same month in 2006.
Exports fell compared to the previous month, but were upslightly from a year ago, but imports rocketed by 64.3 percent comparred to the figures in October 2006. These imports were dominated by latex concentrate, notably from Thailand.
Domestic consumption reflected this increase in imports, with a 44 percent jump in usage compared to October 2006.
