Marangoni Industrial Tyres invests in Sri Lanka
ERJ staff report (DS)
Verona, Italy -- Marangoni Industrial Tyres, a division of the Marangoni Group, has bought an  pre-existing factory in Sri Lanka and is converting it to make superelastic tyres, mainly for use on fork lift trucks but also for other equipment, such as loading platforms, loaders and other industrial and commercial machinery.
Giovanni Marangoni, president of the division, and group vice-president said, “This investment, part of the division's development plans, is aimed at increasing the company's production capacity, expanding the current customer base and -- in general -- increasing market share." The company did not say how much it had invested, nor give capacity of the new unit, but said the former rubber factory has now been stripped and new machinery is being installed. When complete later this year, the plant will employ about 25, said a company spokesman.
Marangoni said the new site will be highly integrated and will use technology supplied by the research and development centre in Rovereto, Italy, which is staffed by a team dedicated to the continual improvement of compounds and projects, as well as to the innovation of the product range and the production process.
