Momentive launches fully fluorinated LSR
Düsseldorf, Germany - Momentive, the former GE Advanced Materials business, has launched a range of fully-fluorinated liquid silicone rubbers that, the company claims, process as well as conventional liquid silicone rubbers. The company says these materials offer the same in-service performance as traditional heat-cured silicones with the processing advantages of LSRs.
The products are aimed firmly at O-ring and other sealing applications, notably in the automotive industry, said Oliver Fransson, industry manager for automotive applications at Momentive. He added that the material meets requirements for blow-by gases as well as fuel line seals and oil seals. The range includes oil-bleeding grades for self-lubricating applications as well as materials which easily operate down to -40C. The materials are available in hardnesses form 40 to 70 Shore A.
