Kuala Lumpur -- Production of natural rubber (NR) in July 2007 was recorded at 104,286 tonnes, down by by 16.9% compared with the same month last year. Total production in the first seven months of 2007 amounted to 694,392 tonnes, a decrease of 5.7% when compared with the corresponding period in 2006.
Exports of Malaysian NR in July 2007 declined by 9.3% when compared with the same month of 2006, to 77,783 tonnes. Standard Malaysian Rubber (S.M.R.) constituted 93.5% of total exports. Of the total S.M.R. exported, the highest, 46.7% was of the S.M.R. 20 variety.
Domestic consumption of NR in July 2007 was 37,006 tonnes, an increase of 14.2% as compared to the same month in 2006.
At the end of July 2007, stocks of NR held was 152,028 tonnes, a decrease of 18.8% compared to that of the same month last year.
