SmarTire sues Siemens over tyre monitoring system
Richmond, British Columbia - SmarTire Systems Inc. has filed a federal lawsuit against Siemens VDO Automotive Corp. and Schrader-Bridgeport International Inc., claiming the companies have infringed on the patent for its tyre monitoring system.
Richmond-based SmarTire filed the suit in US District Court in Virginia.
According to the patent, the system monitors the condition of tyres and transmits measurements of tyre temperatures and pressures to an interior receiver.
An attorney for SmarTire said he had no additional comment on the case. Siemens had no immediate comment.
A court clerk said the case has been transferred from the federal court in Richmond, Virginia, to Alexandria, Virginia. The plaintiff said the patent at issue is No. 5,231,872.
