Columbian adds co-generation unit at Louisiana facility
Marietta Georgia - Columbian Chemicals Co. has added a $19 million co-generation power plant at its North Bend Plant in Centerville, Louisiana. The unit is curently generating around 15MW of power used mainly to reduce the facilitiy's dependence on external energy suppliers, thereby reducing on-going costs.
The company made the announcement in a press release titled, "Columbian positioned for long-term succes." This was issued a week after a Columbian announced a price increase in North America which was blamed on continuing investments in the North American carbon black business.
The release went on to list some of the investments made in Columbian's North American operations.
