ADAC recommends winter tyres
Munich, Germany - The German motoring organisation (ADAC)'s annual winter tyre test results are out. In the 185/60 R14T category, ADAC ranks four tyres as especially recommended:
- Bridgestone Blizzak LM20
- Michelin Alpin A3
- Continental WinterContact TS 800
- Pirelli W190 Snowcontrol
The Michelin and Conti tyres were the most expensive of this selection, while the Bridgestone and Pirelli offered better value.
A wide range of tyres, including examples from Vredestein, Maloya, Hankook, Avon, Dunlop and Goodyear were considered good or adequate, while none of the tyres was specifically ranked as 'Not recommended'
In the budget tyres category ADAC tested twelve 195/65 R15 tyres and only one tyre got the specially recommended rating: Sava Eskimo S3, but eight of the 12 tyres were specifically 'not recommended'
In the tests, ADAC compared the tyres based on price, wet grip, dry grip, snow, ice, noise, rolling resistance and wear.
