By Liz White, ERJ staff
Nokia, Finland-A worker was killed in an accident at Nokian Tyres' new retreading plant in Nurmijärvi, Finland, on 4 Aug, the group revealed, as it released its results for the first half of 2005.
Nokian said in its 11 Aug results statement that the plant has been closed while investigations continue into the cause of the accident.
The plant is a new retreading operation, which centralises Nokian's Finnish retreading operations, the group said. Nokian aims for this recently opened unit, plus an existing retreading plant at Kuopio, to "handle all of the company's retreading activities in Finland."
