Lanxess to close Rhein-Chemie New Jersey plant
Leverkusen, Germany --Lanxess AG plans to close the Trenton, New Jersey, factory of its Rhein-Chemie Rheinau polymer additives business as part of a consolidation to imrpove its US rubber business.
The company said the action will affect the 76 employees in Trenton, where a warehouse wil be retained.
The firm said it is cost-pohibitive to upgrade the Trenton plant. The facility was a Wyrough & Loser Inc. plant when Bayer AG bought that company in 1987 and merged it with its Rhein-Chemie operations. The factory had opened in the 1970s.
Bayer spun off Lanxess last year into a separate company.
