EU car registrations continue decline in May
Brussels--Total Europe (EU-23 + EFTA) passenger car registrations in May 2005 amounted to 1,290,933 units, which represents a decrease of 1.7% (and of 1.3% in the EU-15) with respect to May 2004. While the month had one more working day in almost all countries, the May figure was heavily influenced by the significant drop in Italy (-27.9%) due to the one-month long strike of car transporters, which disrupted delivery of new vehicles. Cumulative figures for the first five months of the year show a drop of 2.4% in total Europe (and of 1.3% in the EU-15).
