Trelleborg, Sweden --Trelleborg AB has agreed to buy certain assets related to tunnel seals from UK-based VIP-Heinke Ltd. that will allow Trelleborg to expand its product offering in this area.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The acquired assets, which generate about $4 million in annual sales, will be integrated into Trelleborg Engineered Systems' existing tunnel-seals operations. The acquired assets are expected to contribute positively to earnings this year, Trelleborg said.

Huntingdon, England-based VIP-Heinke makes a range of moulded tunnel-sealing gaskets designed for precast concrete, steel and cast iron segments. With this acquisition, Trelleborg Engineered Systems will be able to offer a full range of tunnel seals for both bored and immersed tunnels, said the company.

Trelleborg last expanded this business in 2002, buying the tunnel seals business of Holland's Vredestein NV.
