Company launches highly elastic, conducting material
Blacksburg, Virginia--A US company called Nanosonic Inc. has developed a material called Metal Rubber that it says, "combines the high electrical conductivity of metals with the low mechanical modulus of elastomers." The company says it can produce materials with various combinations of electrical conductivity and extension. It says the maximum available elongation at break is 200 percent.
A photograph of the material looks like shiny stainless steel. A small sheet 1mm thick by about 150mm square is selling on the company's website for $1000.
