Boston, Massachusetts-Cabot Corp. is to build a carbon black plant in Tianjin, China, through Shanghai Cabot Chemical Co. Ltd-its 70:30 joint venture with Shanghai Coking and Chemical Co. The 50-kilotonne-per-annum unit is due to start up in early 2006 and will be expanded later that year, Cabot announced 10 Nov.
â€œWe have confidence that this expanded capacity will position us well to supply the growing China market,â€ said William Brady, Cabot's executive vice president and general manager, Carbon Black, in a company statement.
