Cabot to build carbon black plant in China

Boston, Massachusetts-Cabot Corp. is to build a carbon black plant in Tianjin, China, through Shanghai Cabot Chemical Co. Ltd-its 70:30 joint venture with Shanghai Coking and Chemical Co. The 50-kilotonne-per-annum unit is due to start up in early 2006 and will be expanded later that year, Cabot announced 10 Nov.
“We have confidence that this expanded capacity will position us well to supply the growing China market,†said William Brady, Cabot's executive vice president and general manager, Carbon Black, in a company statement.
