Crompton adapts Flexzone plant
By Patrick Raleigh ERJ On-line news editor
Middlebury, Connecticut-Crompton Corp.'s Petroleum Additives business is to establish a new lubricant additives production unit at its Geismar, Louisiana, facility. The facility will include equipment from the company's Flexzone 4-ADPA (4-alkylated diphenylamine) production line, the company announced 19 Oct.
Crompton recently announced plans to cut back production of 4-ADPA-a rubber chemicals intermediate. Some of the production equipment will instead be used to manufacture the firm's Naugalube brand ADPA antioxidants, which are used in lubricants for the automotive industry.
The new facility is due to start-up in mid-2005.
