India's truck tyre production slipped in August, while car tyre output rises
New Delhi--India's ATMA (automotive tyre manufacturers' association) has released figures for truck tyre production in the month of August. The figures are down on both the July 2004 figure and the August 2003 figure. In August India's tyre makers produced 891 000 units, compared with 900 000 a year earlier, and 953 000 in July. This represents around 70 percent of India's tyre output by value.
Car tyre production, by contrast, was up to 980 000 units, compared with 813 000 a year earlier and 1 million units in July 2004.
