Vietnam expects rubber export earnings to beat all records
Vietnam's General Rubber Corp. (Geruco) expects earnings from rubber exports to reach almost Dong2000 million (€100 million) in 2004, well in excess of the previous record, established in 2003, of Dong 1600 million. Geruco is expected to report income of Dong4100 million from sales of an estimated 490 000 tonnes, up 5 to 10 percent on 2003.
The healthy profits are based on higher selling prices, said Geruco's deputy director general. Geruco is setting up a representative office in China, in a bid to increase sales to the world's largest consumer of natural rubber.
