MediCor to buy France-based silicone implant maker

Las Vegas, Nevada- MediCor Ltd. has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Laboratoires Eurosilicone S.A.
Privately held Eurosilicone develops, manufactures and markets a full range of silicone implants for the aesthetic, plastic and reconstructive surgery markets, including silicone-gel breast implants.
The Apt, France-based firm distributes its products in about 70 countries throughout Europe, Asia, South America and Africa, holding 17 percent of the breast implant market outside the US.
MediCor CEO Theodore Maloney said the acquisition will make it the third leading maker and distributor of breast implants behind Inamed Corp. and Mentor Corp. The Las Vegas-based company plans to retain Eurosilicone's 155 employees, two manufacturing plants and executive management team.
MediCor acquires, develops, manufactures and markets products for medical specialties in the aesthetic, plastic and reconstructive surgery and dermatology markets.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
