Thai production falls as violence disrupts tapping in the south
Rubber processing factories in Thailand are reportedly concerned about the reduction in latex production due to increasing violence in three of Thailand's most southerly provinces. Choositt Ophaswongse, honorary president of the Thai Rubber Association was reported as saying that planters in some areas of Narathiwat, Yala and Pattani Provinces have stopped tapping latex. He added that a slowdown in orders from China meant that there were no significant shortages at present.
