Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. will relaunch its Avon passenger, light truck and motorsports tire brand later this spring through an exclusive arrangement with tire and wheel Internet and mail order company Tire Rack.
The revamped Avon line, known collectively as Avon Tyres USA, was designed and engineered for North American conditions based on consumer feedback data collected and analyzed by Tire Rack from its Web site, Cooper said. The design and engineering process involved research and development staff from Cooper and its Cooper-Avon Tyres Ltd. subsidiary in Meklsham, England, Cooper said, using more than 1 billion miles of real-world tire data submitted by more than 60,000 consumers through www.tirerack.com.
Beginning late this spring Avon Tyres USA will introduce Avon Tech, a lineup of ultra-high-performance tires led by the Tech M500, a Z-rated asymmetrical summer tire, the Tech M550, a Z-rated all-season directional tire, and the Tech R, a high-traction, U.S. Department of Transportation-approved tire for motorsport use. The Tech ST performance sport truck tire will launch in the fall. Avon Tyres initially will be sold through Tire Rack's national retail and wholesale distribution network.
