Manchester, UK-Rubber machinery maker Carter Brothers (Rochdale) Ltd of Rochdale, UK went into administration on 8 Dec, and has since laid off 43 of its 70 employees, according to administrators BDO Stoy Hayward.
The equipment firm, which reported 2003 sales of around $8 million, has been “a casualty of manufacturing going abroad, and foreign competition,†said a spokeswoman for BDO Stoy Hayward's Manchester office. The company is currently in negotiations with several parties, who are interested in acquiring the business, she added in an 18 Dec telephone interview.
Carter Bros. is best known for internal mixers, but also can supply extruders, continuous mixers, calenders, mills and laboratory equipment.
