Lubrizol starts medical-grade TPU production in China

Shanghai, China – Lubrizol has started production of medical-grade Isoplast thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) at its Songjiang manufacturing facility in Shanghai, expanding its local supply capabilities for medical device manufacturers.

The start of local production establishes a “dual-source supply model” combining its global manufacturing network with local production in China, said Lubrizol in a recent statement.

The company said the arrangement would strengthen supply chain resilience and business continuity for customers in China and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

Medical-grade Isoplast TPU offers biostability and strong resistance to chemicals and impact, meeting performance requirements across a range of healthcare applications.

“The local production of Isoplast TPU enables us to work more closely with customers and better support local innovation,” said Jane Cai, senior business director, Asia Pacific, at Lubrizol.
