Trelleborg strengthens aerospace position with US acquisition

Munich, Germany - Trelleborg Sealing Solutions (TSS) has signed an agreement to acquire US-based Cascade Gasket and Manufacturing Co. as part of an effort to strengthen its position in the 'attractive aerospace industry'.

Headquartered in Auburn, Seattle, Cascade is specialised in “advanced solutions for critical sealing and components” for the aerospace industry, said Trelleborg 2 Spet.

Among other products, Cascade manufactures silicone components and solutions which Trelleborg said “ensure safe and correct installation of equipment and systems” in aircraft.

The to-be-acquired business was founded 80 years ago and supplies OE parts to “leading aircraft manufacturers” while maintaining “a strong presence in the aftermarket.”

Cascade operates a facility in Auburn where it conducts development and manufacturing, 3D printing and advanced material testing.

The company reported sales of SEK300 million (€27 million) in 2025 and mainly supplies to North American customers.

The transaction, the value of which was not disclosed, is expected to be completed during the fourth quarter of 2026.

Trelleborg already operates two manufacturing facilities in the Seattle area producing components for the aerospace industry.

“This acquisition further strengthens Trelleborg’s position in a prioritised growth segment with attractive long-term market prospects,” said the Swedish group.

The combination of Cascade’s capabilities and Trelleborg’s global presence is expected to generate positive sales synergies worldwide, said TSS president Jurgen Bosch.

“We also welcome a well-invested operation characterised by deep expertise and long-standing customer relationships,” he added.

According to Trelleborg, the global aerospace industry is currently experiencing "a growth phase that is expected to continue for many years.”

In recent years, Trelleborg has completed several acquisitions and investments to further strengthen its offering and presence in the segment.

Most recently, the group opened a new production facility in Casablanca, Morocco, in June to produce polymer seals for aircraft. (ERJ report)
