Former Vencorex sites expand regional manufacturing network for coatings and adhesives materials
Leverkusen, Germany – Covestro has completed the acquisition of two production sites for hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) derivatives in Thailand and the US, the company has announced.
The transaction, completed 1 July, covers the former Vencorex facilities in Rayong, Thailand, and Freeport, Texas.
The acquired plants produce HDI derivatives used in high-performance polyurethane coatings, adhesives and sealants for applications including automotive, infrastructure, marine, wood furniture and electronics.
According to Covestro, the acquisition complements its existing HDI derivatives production network across Europe, Asia and North America, improving supply resilience and supporting long-term growth.
The purchase follows Covestro's earlier purchase of DSM's 'resins & functional materials' business and forms part of the group's strategy to expand its coatings and adhesives business.
