Natural rubber
The Rubber Trade Association Europe (RTAE) reported that prices for benchmark natural rubber grade TSR 20 had “very gradually risen over the past four months” by about 18% – or 30 €cents/kg. (See chart above)
NR futures ended the first trading week of May higher across all major exchanges, reaching “multi-year highs” amid ongoing supply tightness, according to Japan Exchange Group. Furthermore, the deadlock in the Middle East kept crude oil prices elevated, raising concerns about inflationary pressures, said JPX. Chinese commodity funds and speculators added fresh long positions after the Labour Day holidays, supported by expectations around growth in demand for EVs, linked partly to rising global fuel prices.
