Increased demand for co-catalysts used in the manufacture of olefinic, synthetic rubber polymers
Dahej, India – Chemicals supplier Gulbrandsen has started production of triethylaluminum (TEAL) at a new facility located in Dahej, in the western Indian state of Gujarat.
The company has invested $20 million (€19 million) in the facility, which has initial capacity to produce 6 kilotonnes per annum of the polymerisation catalysts.
TEAL is an aluminium alkyl, used as a co-catalyst for manufacturing polyolefins, synthetic rubber, pharmaceuticals and other fine chemicals.
“This investment supports Gulbrandsen’s commitment to meet the growing needs of our customers,” said Ron Hatchell, global business director of organometallics.
The site, he added, supports the company’s strategy to strengthen its presence in India as “an attractive high-growth market.”
