Bridgestone unveils €63m expansion plan for four tire plants

Japan-based facilities to target premium passenger cars products
Tokyo – Bridgestone Corp. is expanding the production capacity of premium tires for passenger cars at four of is production plants in Japan.
The Yen8.2-billion (€63.4 million) project involves expansion plans at factories of Tochigi, Hikone, Hofu and Tosu and will add 6,200 tires per day of capacity by 2025, said Bridgestone in a statement 3 Feb.
The expansion, which represents a 10% increase in output, is aimed at ‘reinforcing structure to produce premium tires for passenger cars,” said the statement.
Furthermore, Bridgestone said it is moving forward with its mid-term ‘premium strategy’, unveiled in February last year, by reinforcing and expanding its tire lightweighting technology Enliten ‘as the new premium’.
“Enliten will expand its values not only as tire technology but also as product, through improvement of tire performance, which meets conditions of each customer use,” said Bridgestone.
Furthermore, the group aims to establish Enliten as a business model, to embrace activities for carbon neutrality, circular economy and increasing productivity and value.
