Heavy haulier could save €18 500 per annum with structured tire management
ERJ staff report (BC)
Birmingham, UK – Stoke-on-Trent-based haulier B&W Transport (BWT) has chosen ATS Euromaster (ATSE) to fit and service the tires on its fleet of 44 tonne trucks.
Having previously used an independent tire dealer, the company switched to ATSE after the latter’s service value calculator (SVC) algorithm indicated that that fitting premium brand tires that could be regrooved and retreaded, with a commitment to accurate tire pressure monitoring, could save BWT up to £16 000 (€18 500) annually in fuel and tire bills.
After one of its first fleet inspections, ATSE identified 13 tires for regrooving, re-positioned three tires to balance wear, and repaired one tire, instead of simply replacing all of the tires with new products, as was BWT’s previous practice.
Founded in 1986, B&W Transport operates tractors and trailers for UK clients both domestically and into Europe. Assets include skeletal trailers, extendable step frames, flatbeds and Euroliners, with mainly Scania and Volvo tractors.
