Worcester, Massachusetts-Rubber moulder Jefferson Rubber Works Inc. is to make over one million nosecup disk valves for the US Army.
US precision moulder Jefferson announced 2 Aug that it has gained a contract with the US military to produce nosecup disk valves. These items are used in various face mask respirators, Jefferson explained. The total quantity required under the deal is estimated to be over 1 million pieces.
The contract is valued at $793 485, according to Jefferson.
Production of the mask parts is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2006.
"We currently mould similar products for various health and safety product manufacturers so these parts fit right in with our product mix and hopefully will lead to other opportunities with the government," said Jefferson president David Pentland, in a company statement.
Worcester-based Jefferson Rubber Works, set up in 1975, describes itself as making high-precision, cost-efficient rubber mouldings†for large-volume rubber users.
