Cooper Tire Europe launches winter tire for compact cars
ERJ staff report (TP)

Melksham, UK – Starfire Tires, engineered by Cooper Tires, is to launch a new winter tire – the Starfire W200 – aimed at the compact car market.
Tested in Alpine winter conditions and manufactured in Serbia, the newest member of the Starfire winter tire family is designed for snow, slush and wet conditions.
It also meets current and future EU tire regulations for wet grip, clean oil and rolling resistance, with the entire size range registering a ‘C’ rating for wet grip.
Cooper Tire Europe said: “The W200 benefits from ‘Tapered Alternating Groove Technology’; forward-facing shoulder grooves and V-Slots enhance braking, while the backward-facing centre groove improves traction.
“A highly-loaded silica tread compound enhances grip in snow, slush and wet conditions by remaining flexible at low temperatures without sacrificing treadwear, making the W200 ideal for driving in low temperatures.”
The tire is H and T speed rated, with ranges from 13 to 16-inch diameter fitments.
