Pirelli reveals tire choices for Japan and Russia
ERJ staff report (TP)
Milan, Italy – Pirelli has revealed its tire choices for the forthcoming grands prix in Japan and Russia.
The Japanese Grand Prix takes place on 5 October at the Suzuka circuit: “one of the most demanding tracks of the year in terms of lateral energy”.
For this reason, the two hardest compounds in the range have been selected: P Zero Orange hard and P Zero White medium, to cope with the high speeds, high abrasion and fast corners.
The choice for the brand-new Sochi circuit in Russia on 12 October is “much more complex, as there has not yet been any representative running on the track”.
However, using simulation data, Pirelli engineers have calculated that the most suitable choice should be P Zero White medium and P Zero Yellow soft, a combination that is capable of covering a wide range of conditions.
The choices for the final three races of the year will be announced after the Russian Grand Prix.
