Hankook's greenhouse gas emissions are audited
ERJ staff report (DS)
Seoul, Korea -- Hankook Tire has obtained a greenhouse emission certification from verification agency BSI (British Standards Institution); this is first in the industry in Korea. All facilities in Korea including headquarter passed BSI's exam and was awarded with the certificate on 6/14/2010 at the Hankook Tire factory in Daejeon, Chungcheong Province.
A spokesman for the BSI said the certificate confirms that Hankook has used appropriate data collection and analysis systems in reporting its greenhouse gas emissions. The certificate does not assess those emissions against external standards -- it merely confirms that the data presented by the company are accurate.
Suh Sueng Hwa, CEO of Hankook Tire, “this certification sets the foundation to reduce greenhouse gas emission and other future opportunities as such as emission trading and other reducing gas emission programs.†He was also quoted, “we will continue to invest in creating earth friendly workplace.â€
