Conti develops fuel line to meet EPA 10 for trucks
ERJ staff report (DS)
Hannover, Germany -- ContiTech Fluid Technology has developed resilient fuel lines for heavy-duty truck engines with up to 16 litre displacement. With the new engines, it has been possible for the first time to significantly reduce both consumption and emissions.
ContiTech's sustainable design makes the system future-proof, not only with regard to the strict American EPA 10 exhaust emission standards, but also for potential future measures in reducing exhaust gas emissions.
The new generation of lines is pressure-resistant up to 35 bar and resists operating temperatures of up to 130°C. This was achieved using the new, extremely temperature-resistant rubber compound and special braiding, which can sustain the high operating pressures. In the flame test, the lines proved themselves over a period of four hours - without any noticeable loss in performance. Stainless steel braiding is also available to improve the heat conduction even further.
