Inks separate agreements with Postech, KIST to develop new materials, conduct joint research
Seoul — Hwasung has signed separate agreements with Pohang University of Science and Technology (Postech) and the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) to strengthen its capabilities in “next-generation materials.”
As part of the agreement with Postech, the partners will aim to establish an industry-academia cooperation system focused on "joint research in the field of new materials" and the "joint utilisation of research infrastructure," said Hwasung in a recent statement.
The partnership combines Hwasung's manufacturing expertise with the research capabilities of Postech's department of materials science and engineering.
"Through cooperation with Postech, we will strengthen our core technology capabilities in the field of new materials and continuously discover innovative technologies applicable to industrial sites," said Park Gwi-young, executive vice president of Hwasung Corp.
Separately, Hwasung Chemical signed an MOU with KIST's Jeonbuk branch to conduct "joint research" on advanced materials for the aerospace sector.
The partners will cooperate on technology exchange, research infrastructure and personnel exchanges to develop next-generation materials for space and aviation applications.
"We will continue to expand cooperation with various research institutions, including KIST, to secure core technologies and talent that will lead future industries and build an internal and external innovation ecosystem," said Hwasung Chemical CEO Lee Jae-wook.
