Small car production falls 31 percent in Japan in October

Tokyo -- Japan's automotive manufacturers Association JAMA said production of small cars (between 660 cc and 2000 cc engine displacement) fell by 31 percent in October, compared with the previous year. Production of large cars increased slightly, while mini car sales also fell by 1.8 percent.
Overall, Automobile production in November 2010 was recorded as 751,620 units. Compared with the 820,861 units total recorded for the same month of the previous year, this is an decrease of 69,241 units or 8.4 percent, and production decreased on the same month of the previous year after twelve month of upturn.
Truck sales were level overall, but productino of mid-sized trucks were down, while large trucks and mini trucks increased.
Motorcycle production in November 2010 was recorded as 58,205 units. Compared with the 51,018 units total recorded for the same month of the previous year, this is an increase of 7,187 units or 14.1 percent, and production increase on the same month of the previous year for eight consecutive months.
