ERJ staff report (CCB)
Chicago, Illinois -- April Miller Boise, the only black female head of a major Cleveland law office, is leaving the Thompson Hine law firm to take a key corporate post with Veyance Technologies in Fairlawn.
Ms. Boise has been named vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Veyance, which makes conveyor belts and other industrial rubber products under the Goodyear Engineered Products name. Veyance was created in 2007 when the business was spun off from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and was purchased by investment giant The Carlyle Group, in a transaction Ms. Boise helped spearhead with a team from Thompson Hine.
Ms. Boise has been with Thompson Hine since 1999, and in February 2009 became partner-in-charge of the Cleveland office, the firm's largest. Succeeding Ms. Boise as partner-in-charge in Cleveland is James B. Aronoff, who has served as administrative partner of the Cleveland office. He also has chaired Thompson Hine's Real Estate Capital Markets practice.
“It is the ultimate compliment to have our partners hired to serve as chief legal officers of leading businesses, †David Hooker, managing partner of Thompson Hine, said in a statement. “Over the years, a number of Thompson Hine partners have become general counsels in top organisations. We congratulate April and look forward to continuing our relationship with her in her new role.â€
