Self-defence meets fashion with Little Viper silicone band
ERJ staff report (TP)
Indiana – A new silicone band fashion accessory has been created with a built-in port for pepper spray, reported The Daily Mail.
The Little Viper is the creation of Indiana-based Caroline Olah who claims it is the world’s first and only self-defence bracelet to incorporate an eye-burning atomiser.
The $19.99 (€14.50) silicone band includes enough spray for three to six uses, and has a range that can extend up to three feet (0.91 metres).
The canister is loaded with a maximum-strength formula, the brand says, whose side effects last anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes – giving its administrator plenty of time to run away from a threatening offender.
Olah said: “We incorporated the world’s smallest pepper spray canister so whether you’re wearing it while jogging in the park, or for a night out on the town, it’s the perfect pint-sized defence system.”
While not the most ornate piece of jewellery, Olah says she created the adjustable bracelet from silicone to make it water-resistant.
This feature is convenient for runners who may feel vulnerable while exercising at odd hours.
Interestingly enough, The Little Viper also falls well under the FAA’s (Federal Aviation Administration in the US) four-ounce (113.4-gram) maximum amount of pepper spray allowed on flights.
The accessory comes in either pink or black, and can be purchased on The Little Viper’s website.
US consumers in Massachusetts, New York or Hawaii should note that the company is unable to ship to these states due to pepper spray purchasing laws.
