Researchers create super-colloids from latex
ERJ staff report (DS)
Urbana, Illinois -- Researchers from a number of institutions in Illinois have published a paper in Science magazine, in which they discuss the development of super-molecules made from colloids of latex.
The team used small spherical colloids dubbed janus spheres due to their hemispherical hydrophobia - one side is hydrophobic, the other is hydrophilic.
The colloids grew into stable triple-helix structures, which may be useful as smart materials.
