SIBUR advances east Russia petchem project

Blagoveshchensk, Russia – SIBUR has signed a cooperation deal with the government of the Amur, with regard to plans by the petrochemicals major to build a gas chemical complex in the region.
The agreement commits SIBUR to developing the domestic potential of the far east Russia region, particularly with regards to its technical infrastructure, labour sourcing and liaison with educational institutions.
For its part, the Amur government would offer full support to ensure development of the region's gas chemical industry: possibiy assisting in the construction of infrastructure facilities required to build and operate the gas chemical complex.
In late 2013, SIBUR and Gazprom agreed to build a gas processing plant and a gas chemical complex in Amur. Initial estimates suggest that the prospective gas chemical complex will produce 2.4 mtpa of ethylene and its derivatives.
